Book Re-Design
For this project, I was tasked with redesigning two books in a way that visually reflects the themes and messages of each title. Careful attention was given to every typographic choice, photographic element, and design decision to ensure each cover accurately represents the book’s content and the author’s original intent.
Educated
Educated by Tara Westover is a memoir that explores her struggles growing up in a strict Mormon household and her journey toward independence through education. The story follows her transformation as she breaks away from that isolated upbringing and eventually earns a PhD in Intellectual History from Trinity College. For my redesign of the book cover, I chose to replace the original pencil graphic with a diploma. This change symbolizes her ultimate achievement and personal growth, highlighting the significance of education as both a theme and a turning point in her life.

Unbroken Bonds of Battle
Unbroken Bonds of Battle by Johnny Joey Jones tells the story of a military journey and the deep camaraderie formed between soldiers through shared experiences. The original cover features four soldiers standing side by side in full military gear, emphasizing unity and service. For my redesign, I drew direct inspiration from the U.S. Army uniform. The cover mimics the look and texture of a uniform, complete with patch-style design elements. The American flag is intentionally placed backwards—mirroring its placement on actual military uniforms—to reflect authenticity and attention to detail, further reinforcing the theme of honor, identity, and brotherhood.
