Animosity Football Rebrand
For my senior Thesis, I chose to rebrand a hmong flag football team that I play for. I felt all kinds of. guilt for never really helping brand the team as I was there for the start of the team, and my Senior Thesis gave me a great opportunity to rebrand the team.
Logo
The logo features a crown, a symbol that has always been central to Animosity Football’s identity. To add a unique cultural twist, I integrated the traditional Hmong ram symbol into the center stem of the crown. The inclusion of the ram symbol felt especially fitting, as it represents masculinity and strength—qualities that align with the team’s spirit and character.
For the typography, I selected a bold, aggressive font with sharp, pointed features to visually echo the angles of the crown. This creates a cohesive, intense aesthetic that reflects both the cultural symbolism and the competitive edge of the brand.
BRANDING
With the understanding that Animosity Football is a Hmong flag football team, I chose to incorporate traditional Hmong cultural patterns into the jersey designs. These patterns not only honor the team's heritage but also add a distinctive and meaningful visual element to the uniform. I extended this cultural motif to various accessories, including headband ties and wrist sweatbands, to create a cohesive identity across all gear. For the polo shirts and fan apparel, I opted for a simpler design approach—focusing on playful typography and strategic color use to maintain a clean yet engaging look that complements the core brand.
POSTERS
For the posters, I focused on highlighting the team captains. Each design was created to be visually unique, reflecting the individual identity of each player, while still maintaining consistency in showcasing their name, number, and position. The goal was to balance personalization with team cohesion, making it clear who the captains were while reinforcing their leadership roles within the overall visual system.
Exhibit
To bring the project to life, we were tasked with creating a physical exhibit. For my setup, I chose a man-cave and outdoor-inspired theme to reflect the spirit of the sport. To establish the setting, I laid down astro turf as the base, creating a field-like environment. The exhibit showcased various elements of flag football gear, including flags, cleats, a football, and, most importantly, the custom-designed jersey—highlighting the energy and authenticity of the sport in a visually immersive way.
